Overview of research areas
Osaka University is a leader in the area of photonics, including photonics and quantum photonics beam technologies. In this field, our fundamental research and technological foundation are synergistically driven between different groups within the university working on photonics. In addition to improving the quality of research through interdisciplinary cooperation, these efforts have promoted advances in pioneering technologies.
Currently we are seeking a broader cooperation and collaboration with large research facilities, universities, and research institutes in and out of Japan. As the Kansai-area leading organization of the Consortium for Photon Frontier Network (C-PhoST) under the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology of Japan, we aim to be an international center for collaborative research in this area, which leverages Japan’s domestic network in photonics.
Additionally, such a cooperative and collaborative system is an ideal venue to train interdisciplinary scientists and engineers who possess broad perspectives. Our diverse quantum photonics network allows us to nurture young researchers capable of working in the international arena.
